About the Village Hall
The Village Hall is owned by the Parish Council which has granted a long-term lease to the Thakeham Village Hall, a charity, to manage the Hall for use by the local community. The Management Committee are the trustees of the charity and the Official Custodian is the custodian trustee.
The Village Hall can be hired for use by local clubs, people wanting to run classes for parish residents and by individuals for parties and other personal events, though certain restrictions do apply. More information can be found on the Village Hall website, where there are details of the regular user groups at the Hall, and an online booking system.
Insurance cover for organisers of community events
This is a ‘frequently asked question’. Most Community Events and Clubs are covered by the Hall’s Public Liability Insurance, providing the events in question are non-commercial (i.e. not profit-making, beyond covering the costs of the event). Excluded events include those organised by a separate third party event organiser or company; events with weapons, bouncy castles, or inflatables; professional sports teams or persons; and contact sports. Hirers should check with the Village Hall Managers, and should also be aware that even if the event can share the Hall’s insurance cover, event organisers still need to accept the Hall’s standard terms and conditions of hire.
To hire the Village Hall, contact the Hall Managers by telephone on 01798 815 467 or by email.
