The Parish Council is inviting residents to help update our 2002 Village Design Statement, in line with our newly ‘made’ Neighbourhood Plan. The first opportunity to give us your input is by attending the meeting of our Neighbourhood Planning Committee of Monday 22 May (6.30pm, Village Hall) where this will be the main discussion item.
You can also contribute your thoughts directly in writing, either by using the Comments form at the bottom of this post, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, by Friday 16 June 2017.
Village Design Statements now sit alongside Neighbourhood Plans as complementary documents providing extra detail, firstly for developers and residents (to give advance guidance around what is wanted/expected with new proposals), and also for the Parish Council and Horsham District Council, to inform comments, decisions and conditions on planning applications. Taken together with relevant policies within our Neighbourhood Plan (including Policy 6 Design, Policy 7 Heritage Assets and Policy 10: Green Infrastructure and Valued Landscapes), the Statement will address various matters relating to building design and materials, and landscape issues.
The PC’s Planning group has already agreed the framework shape for the updated Design Statement, which will be based on a model recently produced by Nuthurst PC that has already been adopted by HDC. The Nuthurst Statement can be seen here. A background document for residents wishing to make comments/suggestions, which also sets out the framework that Thakeham has provisionally adopted, can be viewed/downloaded below.
