The Parish Council has welcomed the latest revised redevelopment scheme for this important but increasingly dilapidated listed building. The scheme now features residential conversion for the main house to a single dwelling, as well as similar conversion of the ancillary hall structure. Details of the new scheme are available on the HDC Planning portal under reference DC/20/0373. The PC has supported this scheme with assurances from the applicant regarding some further minor amendments, including:
• Simplifying car parking for the main house (no car port structure intruding on Bramble Lane);
• Retention of the existing pond within the site, as recommended by ecological survey;
• Sympathetic restoration of the front wall to The Street, particularly the sections that currently have inappropriate concreting.
We hope that HDC planners will also take a positive view of these proposals, so that work at this key site in the historic Conservation Area of The Street can go ahead as soon as possible.
