Parish Clerk Job Opportunity

The Parish Council is recruiting a new Parish Clerk to replace Owen Richards, who is retiring in September 2022.  Full details are below.

Thakeham Parish Council – Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

Full-time          – 37.5 hrs/week (including scheduled evening meetings)
Salary range    – LC2 /SCP points 24-28 (£29,174 – £32,798 on 2021-22 scale)

We are recruiting to replace our retiring Clerk.  As well as the usual range of traditional Clerking competences, the parish needs support particularly in the areas of planning, and managing new community assets and related financial accounting.  The requirements of the role strongly favour applicants with existing experience as a parish clerk, or a senior deputy, and either already CiLCA-qualified or on course for completion.

Skills and experience: The successful applicant will be a strong written and verbal communicator with administrative and analytical skills, knowledge of local government and the planning system, and competence in financial management.  S/he also needs their own transport.

Work Location: balance between working from home and the Parish Office in the Village Hall (Abingworth RH20 3GW) to be agreed.
