HDC Thakeham area health walks

All are welcome to join guided, free, sociable, HDC walks led by trained volunteers; no need to book, just turn up at the start point. Programme booklet containing over 250 walks is available – contact the Walks Co-ordinator on 07720 714306  or look online at www.horshamhealthwalks.co.uk.   Beginners are recommended to contact Walk Leaders to discuss suitability. Wed 20 June 10:30am: Storrington Riverside Walk A 2½ mile walk taking 1½ hours. Meet at Storrington Recreation Ground Car Park, RH20 4PG. This flat, well surfaced walk is ideal for people who want an easy walk with pleasant views. Suitable for children’s buggies. Dogs welcome, no stiles or hills. Refreshments provided. Sat 30 June 2:00pm: Sullington Church, A 3¼ mile mostly flat (four stiles) circular walk across farmland to the waterfall at Chantry and on to Sullington Church nestling at the foot of the Downs on a working farm with its adjacent Manor House. Sun 1 July 10:00am & Sat 21 July 2:00pm: Fryern Park. Meet in Storrington Recreation Ground car park, RH20 4PG. This lovely 3 mile walk, taking 1¼ hours, offers uninterrupted views towards the South Downs as route goes through Fryern Park with its landscaped pleasure gardens and waterfall. Includes stiles. Sat 14 July 10:00am: Annual Horsham Riverside Walk 2018. Meet at Horsham Rugby Club in Hammerpond Road RH13 6PJ. A 13 mile, circular route, taking 5½ hours, with a free minibus back to start from designated stops. Signage along the route and stewards will ensure the correct route is followed. A 3½ mile, mostly flat, easy circular walk through the National Trust’s Sullington Warren, (heathland containing Bronze Age burial mounds) then on to Sandgate Park. Sun 29 July 10:00am: Kings Building and Houghton Forest. Meet at the car park just off Whiteways roundabout, BN18 9FD, at the junction of A29 and A284. This leisurely 4¼ mile downland walk, taking 1¾ hours, incorporates parts of the Southdowns and Monarchs Ways as well as enjoying walking through Houghton Forest. Dogs welcome. Refreshments provided.
