Ellie – a letter to the community

Ellie Thornton’s parents have asked us to pass on this message of thanks.

Ellie – Our Little Angel

Dear Friends and Neighbours – Thank you.

As you may be aware we recently lost our Ellie to a tragic accident when she was on her way to the School Bus stop, and whilst this is heart breaking for us we are humbled and gratified around the level of support we have received.
We have been to the bus stop on a number of occasions to read and retrieve the notes and toys left behind, and the potted plants have now been planted in our Garden so we have a small area to remember Ellie.

The Community support has been incredible, and most welcome as this event has taken over our daily lives, so thank you to all who have left groceries on the door step, the evening meals, the Local Churches, Schools and The White Lion Pub. You have all helped us in some way, thank you, thank you.

Ellie was our amazing little girl, and we miss her every minute of the day, she was always laughing and smiling and didn’t believe in being unhappy. She raised money for charities to help those who she felt needed her help and her final legacy was to allow three other people to live their lives through her organ donation.

Thank you all so much for your support, an amazing community.

Commemorating Ellie

The Parish Council have also agreed with Adrian and Kerry that the village will be commemorating Ellie’s short but joyful life with a new bench and tree planting in the High Bar Lane playground.  The current plan is to mark this with a community celebration event on her birthday, Monday 10 July.  Further details will be circulated closer to the time.
