Christmas in Thakeham

This year please consider putting up some seasonal decorations that everyone can see and spread some joy! St Mary’s church, Thakeham supported by Thakeham Community Events has these great ideas.

Each day in December one building in Thakeham village will be the nominated Advent Door. You can decorate your door/house in any way you want for people to come and admire it from the street. To be part of the official list please call Rev. Sara-Jane Stevens on 01798 813121 and leave your details or mail or WhatsApp/Text 07923 420834. Please get involved. Each morning the day’s location will be posted on Facebook and on the church’ website.

The first door of December was the Village Hall at 1 Abingworth Crescent and the celebration will end there on Christmas Eve. Between 4pm and 5pm there will be a walk-through Nativity “The Donkey’s Journey”. Come with your household bubble and walk through the Nativity story, from the front door of the hall (Advent Door No.24) through to the stable at the back of the building. Bring your face-covering and come in groups of 6 or fewer.

Everyone can get involved, whether you put a drawing of an angel in your window
or create a life-size “scarecrow” figure for your garden or something in-between. It would be amazing to see our village filled with angels this Christmas.
The angels brought “good news of great joy” at the first Christmas and they bring the same to us today.
We could all do with some good news and joy this year!
Post your angel decoration pictures on Facebook for all to see.
