Further to strong objections raised in December by Thakeham and West Chiltington parish councils and residents to the proposed withdrawal of the 74/74A/75 bus service, we have now received news that this service will continue, albeit with some timetable reductions yet to be confirmed.
The WSCC Cabinet member for Transport, Cllr Bob Lanzer has written to us today (7 February) to say:
Having received a large number of representations from passengers the County Council have decided to continue services 74 & 74A but to a revised and reduced timetable. This timetable is designed to provide buses for the majority of the people using the current service, based on recent on-bus surveys. …
Details are being finalised with the operator, and some are dependent on a tendering process that is still in progress so I cannot provide the timetable at this time. It is however expected that final timetables will be implemented from 23 April, and that full details should be available during March.
We will continue to monitor this situation and will update residents when the revised timetable is available.
