HDC Thakeham area health walks

All are welcome to join guided, free, sociable, HDC walks led by trained volunteers; no need to book, just turn up at the start point. Programme booklet containing over 250 walks is available – contact the Walks Co-ordinator on 07720 714306  or look online at www.horshamhealthwalks.co.uk.   Beginners are recommended to contact Walk Leaders to discuss suitability. (1507) Wed 19 April 10:30am: Storrington Riverside Walk A 2½ mile walk taking 1½ hours. Meet at Storrington Recreation Ground Car Park, RH20 4PG. This flat, well surfaced walk is ideal for people who want an easy walk with pleasant views. Suitable for children’s buggies. Dogs welcome, no stiles or hills. Refreshments provided. (2082) Thu 20 April 10:00am: West Chiltington (1) Various 4/5 mile circular walks, some stiles and moderate slopes, incorporating windmills, vineyards, llamas and good views of the South Downs. (3019) Sat 22 April 10:00am: Hareswith, A 4 mile circular walk, some stiles, through the unspoilt fields of Fryern Park to Perrett’s Farm with its stunning views of the South Downs and West Chiltington, on to Hareswith and East Wantley then back along the ancient track of Love Lane. (3018) Sun 23 April 10:00am: Hurston Place. A 4¾ mile, easy going, circular walk, taking 1¾ hours, towards West Chiltington Common and through WS Golf Course. (2157) Mon 24 April 10:00am: St. George’s Day Walk Park and meet at St George’s Parish Church, Steyning Road (RH13 8LR), from Horsham along A24 after Buck Barn traffic lights turn left along B2135 signposted Partridge Green then first right at wooden bungalow. (2041) Sat 6 May 2:00pm: Sandgate Park & Sullington Warren. A 3½ mile, mostly flat, easy circular walk through the National Trust’s Sullington Warren, (heathland containing Bronze Age burial mounds) then on to Sandgate Park. (2037) Sat 13 May 2:00pm: Under the Downs. This is a short walk of 3.6 miles, taking 1¾ hours, towards the bottom of the South Downs escarpment, it then returns via the Church and Glebe Meadow. Meet at Glebe Surgery car park, Monastery Lane, Storrington, RH20 4LR.  This 4 mile walk, taking 2 hours will  explore Storrington’s lovely Riverside Walk which runs through the centre of the village and the National Trust’s Sullington Warren before returning via Fryern Park with its disused pleasure grounds.
